Hi Guys!  Anyone there?  Hello?  Hello?  Can you read me?

I hope you guys (our fans! hahaha) are still there despite our absence for a few weeks (errr months??).  The Pakalistas are extremely busy running their own empires (okay small business) but for sure we haven’t forgotten our mission and vision to Discover Cebu Restaurants One Bite at a Time!

Lately, things have turned around because we are already starting to feel the fruits of our labor.  Restaurants (okay just a few) are already calling us to try out their food but unfortunately we’re so busy to attend to it (sensing attitude problem?).  But anyway, karon we will make hinay-hinay nga mo atiman ani nila na.

First up is Pablo’s Pizza!

Cebu restaurant UCC Cafe Terrace breakfast

Back when UCC first opened its doors at The Ayala Terraces in late April this year, I already took notice of the menu standee beside the cafe’s entrance. It heavily features enticing pictures of the breakfast entrees that UCC serves in the morning. And when I say enticing, I really mean ENTICING! Of course, the place has a well-known reputation for being quite pricey for someone of my humble stature in society. Hence, my urge to try out their breakfast selections was put on hold for a later date. But alas! Here came my knight-ress in shining armor — Ms. Abbey Thomas — with an invitation for DiningCebu to try out their coffee and breakfast selections in exchange for… errr… hmm… I don’t really know. I guess they were feeling generous that day, haha! Read More »

If you love coffee, then you must try UCC’s coffee. Yes, UCC Cafe Terrace is relatively expensive compared to the other Cebu coffee shops. However, it is (arguably) by far the Cebu coffee shop with the most number of choices. If wa palang ko nauwaw nila Abbey and Kathleen, naabtan siguro kug 48 years pinili sa drinks na akong sulayan. If you’re the type who looks at the entire menu before choosing, ay makahilak ang waitress ug hinuwat hehe. UCC Coffee is not for everyone. Casual coffee drinkers (me included) would cringe at the sight of SOME of the prices and might not be able to appreciate or be able to tell why their coffee is special. Read More »

It was early July when I got an invite from Abbey of UCC Coffee to try their breakfast specials. I was pleasantly surprised to get the e-mail because I wasn’t the author of our first UCC post. Two weeks after that, Berg and I finally got to meet Abbey and Kathleen at UCC Coffee Cafe Terrace (ako tawn ng pirti ka lapad sa picture above, walay mo-comment ha!). Berg had been to various UCC shops in Manila. Me? It was my first time there, but I’ve been meaning to try their drinks despite hearing that it could cost me an arm and other appendages (so you think Starbucks is expensive!). Yep, I was mighty impressed and had a fun time. Lami gyud ang free haha!

I learned a lot about coffee that day, not only about UCC Coffee but about the beverage in general. And to show our appreciation, we will have 3 separate posts featuring UCC Cafe Terrace. It’s UCC week y’all!

I was happy to get my very first freebie as a Pakalista months ago, so you can just imagine my joy when I got more freebies — some low-fat coffee and a UCC mug as souvenir! I am so babaw, and loving it!  The mug was indeed special. If you want to know why, read on …

Last Tuesday, I received a message from Ms. Petit of Kusina Habana informing me that they have something special for me and asked where I want it delivered.

I just realized that in my excitement I forgot to ask why they are giving me some goodies hehehe (KH can you tell me why?).  I just replied my big warm THANK YOU and told Ms. Petit which office to deliver the special gift yippeee!

UCC cafe terrace ayala cebu

UCC Cafe Terrace finally opened its first branch in Cebu last April 25th 2009. UCC stands for Ueshima Coffee Company, a Japan-based coffee company (not just a coffee shop) which has earned a good reputation in its home country enough to become a household name. In Manila, lots of positive word-of-mouth have made the various incarnations of UCC (Vienna Cafe, Park Cafe, and Cafe Terrace) a must-try culinary destination for their high-quality coffee selection, delectable dishes, and tantalizing desserts. Dagupeña’s Teriyaki Boneless Milkfish Belly

Product placement is everywhere, even in movies, so why not here? Well, for one, somebody has to be willing to place their products in our site hehe. Gena was certainly brave generous enough, and that is why I am featuring Dagupeña Bangus – just in time for the Holy Week. This is also for the health-conscious people.

I love seafood! And I have always been thankful to God that I’m not allergic to seafood. To me, life without seafood is dull. I love all kinds of food from the sea, especially fish. There are times when I wondered if I might have been a shark in my past life. (Or maybe my editors told me that?)

Seafood in Bonita Oasis, a relatively new resort in Moalboal, is as fresh and good as they come. Read More »
